yosemite-falls-web-723 REAL LIFE HABITS FOR SUCCESS ® MAXIMIZE YOUR TIME

Tired of the costs of missed appointments, unfinished tasks and projects, procrastination and wasted days? Then you can employ these simple solutions to overcome your time management challenges.

1. VALUE YOUR TIME. You can’t address what you don’t recognize. Until you can see time as a valuable commodity, you will continue to waste it. Once you see the value inherent in time you will no more throw it away than you would a hundred-dollar bill. Invest some time in time and write out why you should value yours. Then develop a plan for how to spend your most valuable commodity today and for the rest of your life.

2. CONSOLIDATE ALL CALENDARS AND APPOINTMENT BOOKS. Place all floating pieces of paperwork, all information, in one calendar organizer. Avoid using several calendars for appointments and deadlines. Make your life easier by consolidating this important information into one easy to- reference organizer. You can buy an organizer at your local office supply company or visit Franklin Covey online to review what they have to offer. You can also consider an iPhone or Apple computer. Whether paper or electronic, if you use it right, you need only one organizer. Substituting one for the many also makes it much easier to carry your organization tool with you.

3. ACCOUNT FOR YOUR TIME USING A TIME LOG. How, where, and on what do you spend your time? The best way to get a grasp on your time is to log your time showing how it is used. What is it that you do during your day, week or month? Logging your time allows you to clearly understand where you are spending your time, how you can eliminate time wasters and how you can realign your time with your goals.

“My strength lies solely in my tenacity.” Louis Pasteur

cabo-water-sand-72-web-23 REAL LIFE HABITS FOR SUCCESS ® ASKING IS PART OF SUCCESS

The only way to get what you want out of life is by asking! This naturally begins at birth and follows us to the grave. As life progresses, it seems most people tend to lose the initiative to ask for what they want. They don’t ask for a raise, for a date, for a sale, for a price reduction. Most people simply don’t ask. The result is getting less than what you want.

1. START SLOWLY TO BUILD MOMENTUM. That’s right. Make simple requests to remind yourself that you can and do get what you want, by asking. Is it going to work every time? Of course not, but will asking dramatically increase your probability of getting what you want? Yes! The acquisition of any skill requires practice and repetition, so get started today.

2. LEARN TO ENJOY UNCERTAINTY. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow eloquently said, “Go forth to meet the shadowy future, without fear.” People work dead-end jobs and stay in unproductive relationships because they are not sure of what to expect if they ask for something different. Most people are so scared about uncertainty that they never activate their asking muscles for fear they will make a mistake or fail. No great business leaders and relationship builders ever really know what to expect, but they are still willing to walk into the unknown.

3. SMILE AT REJECTION. A thousand little “no’s” can lead to a big “yes”. Rejection stinks, but that’s no reason to give up. Rejection is part of life. It’s a good thing Edison didn’t give up when he was inventing the light bulb. It’s been said that he tried 10,000 experiments before producing the incandescent light bulb. He then had to work hard to get the public to accept his invention. No matter where you are in life you have to learn to deal with rejection in a way that helps you take more action to get what you want. Let Edison’s example illuminate your own tenacity.

florida-bee3 REAL LIFE HABITS FOR SUCCESS ® BUILD YOUR TEAM

Yes you! Synergy is defined as a combined action; a compatibility and cooperation of individual elements—the sum of the parts being greater than their individual components. Unless you do your part within the equation then the equation will not work. You don’t have to be a renowned physicist to understand this concept.

1. FULFILL YOUR OBLIGATION. Give 100 percent of yourself. Give little regard if you think others might not follow through. Do your absolute very best to do your part. Just make it happen.

2. DEFINE THE EXPECTATIONS OF ALL TEAM MEMBERS. To create a team that works together well, all members must know and agree on what it is they are going to contribute to the team’s purpose and what types of behaviors are appropriate. Does everyone know what the goals or the measurable objectives are of the team? Does every team member know and understand their specific role within the team? Don’t make it an international mystery. Spell out what needs to be done, and who needs to do what.

3. TREAT EVERYONE AS IMPORTANT. Everyone piece in the puzzle is significant, whether it be in the spot light or not. Most people are so busy in their own lives that they aren’t in the least bit interested in the lives of others. Why should they be? No one seems to be concerned for them! The truth is that your life will be beautifully enhanced by tuning into the lives of others. The bottom line is respect!
